Episode 1.07: Hollywood Forever

Episode 1.07, entitled ‘Hollywood Forever’ first aired on 10/7/2008.

Recap:

There is a new girl with an attitude at school named Kim. She immediately rubs Annie the wrong way and flirts with Ryan. At the same time Annie and Ethan get assigned to take care of a fake baby for a school project. Meanwhile, Silver is celebrating her half birthday and plans to throw a party at a local cemetery.

Naomi gently confronts Adriana about her drug use and suggests she get some help. Adrianna denies everything and tells her that if she gets the part she is auditioning for, everything will go back to normal. She also points out that she can’t stand Annie, who is also trying out for the role.

Tracy (Naomi’s mother) tells Harry that she wants to try and track down their son. He is OK with it until she mentions that she has already hired a PI. Tracy kisses him, and Harry is forced to tell Debbie about it. Debbie is horrified and tells him that she misses her friends back in Kansas.

Annie auditions for the role while Adrianna snorts coke in the bathroom before her own audition. We later find out that Adrianna got the part – Naomi goes to wait for Adrianna and she never shows up. But her mother informs Naomi that Adrianna got the part.

Naomi sees Ethan and Annie hanging out at the Peach Pit with their “baby” and lets them know that she isn’t bothered by them hanging out. Silver has Dixon over and informs him of her plans to paint one of Kelly’s walls black and make her apartment the “party house” while Kelly is gone. Just when Dixon thinks that he is going to take their relationship to the “next” level, Silver tells him that they are going to do a horror movie marathon (since Dixon doesn’t usually watch horror movies). Dixon accidentally falls asleep and misses his curfew. When he goes home everyone is waiting up for him, and his parents tell him that they are planning to go to Silver’s party the next night to make sure he doesn’t miss his curfew again.

Ryan is forced to give Kimberly a detention for disrupting class. In detention, Kimberly continues flirting with Ryan.

Naomi confronts Adrianna in the hall about where she was last night, and Adrianna tries lying to her. Naomi sees the “cocaine” lipstick container and is horrified, and we learn that she once experimented with it herself. Naomi tries reasoning with Adrianna, and suddenly some cops with drug-sniffing dogs come in to check for drugs. Adrianna freaks out, and Naomi stupidly takes the lipstick container to try and protect Adrianna. However, when she runs off it catches the attention of the cops and they find her in one of the toilet stalls dumping it out. She is arrested.

Ethan and Annie confront Adrianna, who saw Naomi take the drugs from her during the bust.

Naomi gets bailed out by her father, and upon returning home finds her mother going through her stuff. Her parents accuse her of doing it for attention. Naomi talks to Adrianna and begs her to come clean. After lots of crying, Adrianna agrees and goes home to tell her mother. But her mother throws a crimp in her plans and as usual puts a huge amount of pressure on her daughter, telling her that her role in the movie is saving their house. Needless to say Adrianna decides not to come clean.

The evening of the party dawns. Ryan meets up with his internet date, who is absolutely beautiful but a complete airhead. Kim comes over and introduces herself to Ryan’s date.

Kim introduces herself to Ryan’s air-headed date. Ryan later confronts her about the flirting, and she replies and denies having any attraction towards him.

Naomi and her father meet up with lawyer and wait for Adrianna to show up to confess. She doesn’t show up. Naomi is furious, and the lawyer says that if Adrianna doesn’t come and take the blame, Naomi may not be able to get into college.

In a crazy plot twist, we learn that the annoying Kimberly is actually an undercover drug cop. She is in cahoots with Harry and is planning to try and bust the drug supplier.

The last scene of the show was very chilling… it showed Adrianna lying on the ground, unconscious, (from a possible drug overdose?) while paramedics work her over. At the same time, Naomi is leaving a very angry message for her, saying “You are dead to me”.

Review:

Wow! I think this episode totally redeemed the show. The drug bust story line between Naomi and Adrianna is riveting, and it makes us realize that Naomi really is a good person deep down, despite the rich snobby girl facade. Also the story line with Tracy and Harry trying to find their child looks like it will be interesting.

As for Annie’s story line with Ethan, it was a little boring. I mean, are they going to hook up once and for all or not? (Personally I think she should be with Ty, who is much better looking!) And I love Silver and Dixon together, they have some great screen chemistry.

Overall I’d say this was a great episode, and I am eager for next week’s show.
